Hon Yusuf Barnabas Bala

His Excellency, Hon. Arc. Yusuf Barnabas Bala was born in 1956 in Kagoro, Kaura LGA in in ECWA Theological College Kagoro. He attended Tagwai Sambo Manchok Modern Primary School and was acknowledged to be a brilliant student
After the completion of his primary education, the ambitious and hardworking young man was accepted into the Federal Government College (FGC) Warri. He then obtained a Bachelors degree in Architecture from the University of Lagos before earning a Masters degree in Architecture with distinction from Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) in 1981. Shortly after graduating from ABU, he turned down an appointment as graduate assistant to lecture for 6 years in the University of Jos.
He worked in the private sector after establishing Bantex Consortium. The success and impact of the company brought the prefix Bantex, which is what he is popularly called till today. He has contributed to numerous engineering projects. Having visited Nairobi to study the country’s Jomo Kenyatta International Conference Centre, he was the inspired to design the Kaduna International Conference Centre. He built the Turaki Buga Memorial Hospital, the Medical Centre at the Nigerian Institute for Policy & Strategic Studies (NIPSS), as well as a pavilion at the Kaduna Trade Fair Centre. He successfully ran for LGA Chairman of Kaura where he was credited with the implementation of numerous developmental projects.
He delved into politics as a member of the opposition in a zone that was totally controlled by the then ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP). He served in the House of Representatives under the platform of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) representing Kaura federal constituency. This feat made Hon. Yusuf Bala the only ACN legislator in the North West geo-political zone of Nigeria. He played a vital role in the merger of defunct CPC, ACN and ANPP in Kaduna State.
He then successfully ran for the Chairman of APC in Kaduna State. He ensured transparency and openness as the Chairman of the party. Mallam Nasir El-Rufai eventually chose him as his running mate after consulting party elders, stakeholders and President Muhammadu Buhari. He continues to have the trust of his governor, and is the most influential deputy governor in the 36 states of the nation. The states ministry of rural and community development is directly under his control, and he chairs numerous strategic committees on behalf of the KDSG.
